Plain-clothes ICE agents have been entering the Hamilton County Courthouse to make arrests of immigrants coming out of courtrooms. Law enforcement in Hamilton County were unaware of ICE entry into the courthouse. The sheriff clarified that while his office does not partner with ICE, he does not have the authority to stop federal law enforcement from entering a public place. His concern, however, is that victims and witnesses of crimes may be hesitant to come forward if they believe they could be arrested by ICE.
