These will include education loans and credit cards, among other products. The company will also make mortgage and home equity loans available to DACA customers where possible.
- A government watchdog says current family separation numbers may be flawed. On Thursday, the inspector general for Health and Human Services reported that details on family separation were not automatically shared between CBP and HHS while the policy was in effect. While CBP handles border apprehensions, HHS works with migrant children. This lack of information sharing is another flaw that affects the veracity of the official number, published last year, of children separated from their parents during the official family separation policy. Outside of that policy, family separations at the border continue, particularly where parents have a criminal history.
- Border patrol arrests have increased for the first time in nearly a year. In February, CBP arrested 30,068 migrants making illegal crossings. This was up from January and marks an increase in these monthly numbers for the first time since May 2019. However, the numbers are still far below last February. The decrease in border apprehensions overall can be traced to Trump administration policies making it more difficult to apply for asylum in the U.S.
