Detained immigrants in California are staging a hunger strike
- Three states have asked the Supreme Court to suspend the expanded public charge rule. Last year, the Trump administration expanded the type of benefits that could be considered in a public charge determination. The expanded rule includes any use of Medicaid, food stamps, and more. The Supreme Court has previously allowed the rule to go into effect while litigation proceeds. In light of the coronavirus pandemic, three states as well as New York City have asked the Supreme Court to reconsider that ruling and temporarily suspend the rule until the emergency ends. They argue that deterring anyone from accessing benefits such as Medicaid will make it more likely that immigrants will spread COVID-19 and suffer from the virus in greater numbers.

- Washington state has sued Greyhound over immigration searches. The state of Washington sued Greyhound Lines Inc. on Monday. The lawsuit argues that Greyhound?s practice of allowing immigration officers onto buses for random checks violates the state?s Consumer Protection Act and the Washington Law Against Discrimination. The searches affect many in Washington due to the state?s proximity to the Canadian border. In February 2020, Greyhound announced that it would no longer consent to the CBP searches.
